James has a first class honours degree, spending his time between the design studio - working for independent clients to global FMCG brands; and travelling the world.

He's currently based on the southern, Japanese island of Kyushu - feel free to drop in!

Experience

English Teacher // Mie Sogo, Japan

A Senior High School English teacher in rural Japan. The role includes outlining and preparing the year's curriculum, lesson planning and teaching the students (often kicking and screaming!) conversational and cultural class to engage and encourage further studies of English and the wider world.

Living and working in semi-rural Japan forms part of my own going strategy to develop a wide variety of cultural exposure and sensity for future design work.

DESIGNER+DIRECTOR // MOLKIE DESIGN

My freelance brand in which I produce web and print graphics, designed company brochures and produced CMS websites, learning new skills such as HTML coding and honing my graphics eye.

The business is run by myself, from advertising and client sourcing to maintaining client relations and follow-up work.

PACKAGING DESIGN // DISRUPTIVE INNOVATOR - UNILEVER

Part of the in-house design team, working with agencies on front end design, brand DNA, through to back-end CAD, CAE, renders.

Designer in Open Innovation, using start-up mentality to develop disruptive products. Responsible for design, stake-holder communication, business modeling, project & business management.

TELFORD HALL CHAIR // LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY

Leader of a 14 person committee, pulling together the hall’s volunteering, sporting & social activities at weekly meetings. As the voice of the hall, I was called upon to represents its interests in dealing with the University.

Loughborough University

As Hall Chairman I represented a 200-strong hall and and ran a 14 person committee to organise socials, fundraising, volunteering and sport.

In final year, I was Loughborough Design School Degree Show Chairman, overseeing and partaking in the development of the show's identity and outputs, such a brochure, social media and exhibition layout.

During University I was part of the Handball club, training and conditioning twice a week and played domestically and internationally for Loughborough University Handball.

Other activities included spending 1 month studying in China, joining the Surf Society, studying French, organising the Telford Hall 50th Birthday celebrations, a year interning at Unilever, being a committee member for 'That Awesome Design Association', hitch hiking to Bruges and back in 54 hours for RAG, RAG raids to Leicester, Nottingham and London, and Action volunteering around Loughborough.
